About
Saugata Chatterjee is a sitarist trained in the North Indian classical tradition, with a practice rooted in raga and years of disciplined study under senior gurus. His playing draws on classical structure while leaving room for improvisation and personal expression within each raga's framework. He has performed and recorded extensively, presenting both traditional repertoire and exploratory interpretations for listeners encountering the sitar for the first time as well as connoisseurs of the form. His recordings are shared primarily through video, offering an intimate, unedited view of the music as it unfolds in real time.
